Weingut Kracher Celebrates a 100-Point Hat-Trick from the Wine Advocate
Illmitz. Three wines. Three perfect scores.
Renowned wine critic Stephan Reinhardt from Wine Advocate/Robert Parker visited us in Illmitz and the results speak for themselves. Three Trockenbeerenauslesen from the current Library Release were awarded 100 points – a historic success for Gerhard Kracher.
"It took me almost a quarter of a century to really fall in love with Kracher's sweet wines, but today I count them among my very favorites in the world of fine wine."
– Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
The Three 100-Point Wines at a Glance:
2000 Trockenbeerenauslese No. 3 Chardonnay
A majestically matured wine with a bouquet of salty-mineral depths intertwined with hints of flint, dark caramel, nougat, licorice, and dried stone fruit. On the palate, it is carried by absolute precision. The finish is endless, characterized by dark chocolate and citrus zest.
"This is a spell-binding beauty full of finesse and lively salinity that triggers an immediate swallowing reflex... again and again this wine defies analysis and seduces shamelessly but perfectly."
– Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
2005 Trockenbeerenauslese No. 7 Grande Cuvée (available from September)
Aged in barrique, the 2005 TBA No. 7 reveals a deep yet fresh bouquet of candied stone fruits, citrus, nougat, caramel, and a touch of flint. On the palate, it is dense and precise, salty-mineral with a vibrant acidity and an endlessly long finish.
"This is an ageless TBA... a stimulating, even salivating saline and filigree-structured TBA that develops a very long and lively, even energetic finish."
– Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
2005 Trockenbeerenauslese No. 9 Scheurebe
An intense, elegant bouquet of mint and eucalyptus combined with balsamic and concentrated fruit aromas mingling with nougat, caramel, and salty notes. The 2005 TBA No. 9 is highly refined, refreshingly salty, and fresh – the perfect expression of Scheurebe (known in Austria as Sämling 88). A charming, fresh, lemony, and delicate TBA in the classic Austrian style – without barrique aging.
"This is a spellbinding fresh, lemony and delicate TBA in the classic Austrian style… the perfect expression of Scheurebe."
– Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
Library Release – A Time Capsule from the Seewinkel
Since the mid-1990s, Kracher has deliberately held back selected wines to allow them decades of aging. The specially created wine library preserves these treasures under perfect conditions to offer them later as rare collectibles. All Library Release wines with over ten years of aging receive an authenticity sticker as a guarantee of optimal storage.
The Very Special 2005 Collection
A particularly emotional moment in our history is the 2005 collection. It was the last in which Alois Kracher Sr., Alois Kracher Jr., and Gerhard Kracher worked together – an era that laid the foundation for today’s success. These wines are not only top-quality products but also witnesses of a generation full of passion and pioneering spirit.
